Plaxico Burress Still Not Cleared to Practice

New York Jets WR Plaxico Burress, who missed 2 days last week at practice, still is not fully cleared to practice yet. Last week he rolled his left ankle in practice.  From what I am reading, it does not seem like he will play at all in Monday night’s game against the Houston Texans.

My thoughts: Take this one with a grain of salt.  The Jets are clearly trying to save his ankle.  He hasen’t played football in 2 years.  It’s a smart move to not keep him in practice at this time.

Go Jets!

Shaun Ellis signs with the Patriots

Shaun Ellis has agreed to a deal with the New England Patriots.  Here is what Adam Schefter has to say:

Offered the veteran’s minimum by the Jets, it’s unclear if Ellis’ Patriots contract includes any guaranteed money. Ellis had clearly lost a step last season, but as evidenced by his monster playoff performance against the team he is now joining, he can still be a productive player. He’s an excellent depth signing for what should be an improved Patriots’ defensive line.

My thoughts: I do agree that Ellis has lost a step, but come on, the Patriots? Shaun, couldn’t you have signed with the Eagles like everyone else? He was a great player for the Jets.  I loved watching him play every Sunday and will still wish him well, but now that he is a Patriot I have mixed feelings.  I hope he sucks when he plays us!

Jets sign Derrick Mason

Just a quick note.  The New York Jets have signed Derrick Mason to a 1 year deal.  The terms of the deal are still unknown, but this is a great pickup.  I still think it’s scary having a 34 year old receiver in Plaxico Burress and now a 37 year old receiver in Derrick Mason.  It is a deal the Jets needed to get done.  Mason should provide leadership to our offense and receiving corps.

As always, Go Jets!

How Will the Jets Finish this Season?

If you look to the right, on the sidebar, you will see a poll. How will the Jets finish this season? What’s your prediction? Can we finally win the division?

Please vote! I am really curious to see what everyone thinks!

J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!!!!

Jets Sign Trevor Canfield and Peter Clifford, Waive 3

The New York Jets have signed OG Trevor Canfield and OT Peter Clifford. Trevor Canfield was drafted in the 7th round of the 2009 draft and played for the Cardinals, Seahawks and Lions, respectively. He’s 25 years old, 6 foot 5 inches, 307 pounds. Peter Clifford played for the Titans last season, is 27 years old,  6 foot 7 inches, and 312 pounds.

The Jets have also waived CB Jeremy McGee, OG Tom Ottaiano and OT Jeff Wills.

Jerricho Cotchery Wanted Out?

According to various reports, it appears that Jerricho Cotchery wanted out since the end of last season.  If you think about it, you can understand where Cotchery is coming from.  He went from the Jets #2 WR to the #3 WR. Honestly, Cotchery has been a real class act. If he really wanted out he sure kept quiet about it and you have to respect that. He didn’t make himself a distraction and that proves that he is a real team player and was not just thinking about himself.

I’ll post more about this once I hear some more update.  Until then, go New York Jets!

On a side note: It appears Shaun Ellis went to visit with the New England Patriots.  UGH! I’ll inform you once I hear more…

Update: It does appear that Cotchery wanted out.  He grew frustrated with the Jets constantly going after WRs. Apparently the signing of Plaxico Burress was the last straw for Cotchery.

My Thoughts: You can’t blame him. He went from a #2 to a #3.  He’s a proven player and he can benefit from being on a different team. I’m sure San Diego will be taking a look at him.

San Francisco 49ers Sign Braylon Edwards

The 49ers have signed Braylon Edwards to a 1 year, prove it deal, worth $3.5 million. This is a one shot deal for Braylon.  With all of his off the field issues, he has to make the most of this. Obviously the 49ers are not confident in Michael Crabtree. As a die hard Jets fan, and a fan of Braylon Edwards, who really showed Jets fan what he can do, I hope this works out for him.  Of course, when he plays the Jets, i hope he sucks! :)

In all seriousness, good luck to Braylon. He was a great wide receiver for the New York Jets. He needs to clean up his life outside of football, but the best of luck to him!

Jets to Sign Mason, Release Cotchery

There has been numerous reports today that if WR Derrick Mason passes his physical today while visiting with the Jets, Mason will be signed and WR Jerricho Cotchery will be released.

Obviously Mike Tannembaum, Woody Johnson and Rex Ryan know what they are doing, but this is the first time I have really questioned a move by the Jets. Mason is 37.  Cotchery is 29.  Plaxico is 34.  If Mason is signed, I think we need to worry about having two WRs ages 34 and 37.  Granted Cotchery has been banged up the past couple of years, but I really don’t know how I feel about this move.

I will provide an update when I hear more.
